AMIL: architecture, atmosphere & hosts

Who we are – and what drives us

We are Alexandra and Massimo – the people behind AMIL.

AMIL was born from a simple idea: to create the kind of place we would want to arrive at ourselves. A place that feels quiet, yet alive. A design that settles naturally into the alpine landscape – clear, understated, and authentic.

At its core is a sense of beauty that doesn’t overwhelm, but brings clarity. That creates space. Because for us, simplicity is not about less – it’s about choosing what truly matters. Less distraction, more of what feels right. Every detail has been carefully considered – with the intention of creating an atmosphere that supports, without ever imposing. AMIL has become a place that leaves room: for stillness, for clarity, for the essentials. A place created for you – shaped by what we believe in.

People. Vision. More than architecture – a feeling, shaped into form.

AMIL is the tangible expression of a dream. A place born from a clear idea, carried by our vision – and shaped with deep personal commitment.

A story that begins in the mountains
Le Marche in Italy – a region where sea and mountains meet – is where we come from. It is our origin, our home. Travel has always been our inspiration: we explored places, discovered new cultures, gathered impressions – until East Tyrol became more than a destination. It became a decision. It was here, in this part of the Alps, that something shifted. A desire not just to visit, but to belong. Not as guests, but as part of this place. From that moment, the idea took shape – clear, confident, and intentional: to create a retreat that is more than just a place. A place that welcomes. That allows you to arrive. Free from expectations, free from convention – even if only for a few days. This is how AMIL began: our vision, reduced to the essentials. A response to a way of travelling that is quieter, more conscious – and closer to what truly matters.

The people behind AMIL

Veronika

Your host – and a familiar presence in Arnbach. Born in South Tyrol and deeply connected to Tyrol, she knows the region intimately. With a quiet sense of care, she ensures that everything feels just right. From the very first moment, she creates an atmosphere that is warm without ever being intrusive. Present when needed – and otherwise gently in the background. That’s what makes the difference: a stay that feels effortless, where your time in the mountains becomes something that lingers.

Architecture that endures – created for time, designed for the soul

For us, AMIL is more than a structure. It is a vision that has found its place. A place that endures – while blending quietly into the landscape, never overpowering it.

We were guided by the idea of an architecture that is clear and grounded at its core, yet light and understated in its expression. Balance was never a goal, but a mindset – just like the conscious decision to focus on what truly matters. Every choice follows this principle: to draw attention to what is real, beyond the surface. Materials don’t demand attention – they reveal their character naturally. The warmth of wood, the openness of glass connecting inside and out, and the quiet strength of stone. The spaces open outward. Light, air and energy flow freely – creating an atmosphere that holds and supports.

AMIL follows a simple idea: to leave out the unnecessary, in order to give space to what truly matters – stillness, clarity, and a quiet kind of strength.

AMIL – four letters, a quiet expression of a dream

The name AMIL touches something universal: a sense of longing, of hope. An echo of inner strength and continuity, felt beyond the moment. Perhaps this is what gives AMIL its distinctive presence. Not just a place, but a space with meaning – calm, intimate, deeply felt. Here, every detail becomes part of a whole. Like individual notes coming together in a quiet harmony. A subtle expression of strength, of new beginnings, of what is yet to grow. And yet, AMIL is more than its name. Its essence also lies in what these four letters stand for:

Authenticity
Materials
Intimacy
Lightness
